St. Michael's Mission Church in St. Michael's, AZ. Run by the Franciscan Friars this is a very warm, community with a 100 year old mostly Navajo church.

The Hands On Network works to connect people with volunteer projects around the United States.  To contact the Phoenix office email info@makeadifference.org.
Maggie's Place is a house of hospitality for expectant women. In the tradition of the Catholic Worker movement, staff, pregnant women, new moms and newborns all live together in community. We are powered completely by volunteer labor and are always grateful for new volunteers. Music, film, and other cultural events
Cafe Fiat in Phoenix is a new coffee house that nurtures the seeking of truth through healthy relationships with others and the exploration of ideas, with a vision to celebrate the culture of life through speakers, music, literature, art and community. Call 602-518-6433 for more information. 
Late October through April is when Phoenix has  perfect weather and a ton of events. Fiesta Bowl Festival , Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction and the Phoenix Open are big draws.
