Volunteer programs headquartered in Texas
One way to get connected with current and/or former volunteers in the area is to plan intercommunity volunteer gatherings such as prayer groups, game nights, meals/picnics, etc.

The following programs are headquartered in Texas: Annunciation House (El Paso), Casa de Esperanza (Houston), Casa Juan Diego/Houston Catholic Worker House (Houston), Jesuit Volunteer Corp: South (Houston), and Vides USA Central (San Antonio).

Houston

Music, film, and other cultural events
Houston's Theater District reflects the city itself: king-sized and eclectic. What's more impressive, though, are the performing arts companies that populate downtown. Check out the Alley Theatre, Jones Hall, the Aerial Theatre or the Wortham Center for a variety of performing arts events.

In what is Houston's most Parisian-looking neighborhood — ornate fountains, lots of public sculpture and long, tree-lined avenues — sits the Museum District. Check it out!

Here are some fun fairs and festivals you don't want to miss: Rodeo Houston in February at Reliant Park; Houston International Festival in April; and the Texas Renaissance Festival in October and November.
